So like my first post states, I am pretty new to the whole blogging thing. In fact, until now, I have never even used WordPress. Generally speaking though, I would say I am decently okay with navigating my way around new sites and teaching myself how to master the art of the web. I mean, being a skillful Facebooker and Twitterer has definitely helped in some regards.
However, once in a while, the advanced technological world likes to be my worst enemy. Lets just say we have a love/hate relationship…and this morning was definitely more on the hate side.
So here is the story:
Around midday I decided that I would get on and blog a little. Mind you, I spent over two hours the day before editing my blogging, adding posts, and sending the link to my family and friends….I was bit excited with what I had accomplished.
Anyway, I typed the URL into the search bar and my blog was GONE! Yes, GONE! I couldn’t find it anywhere. I about had a heart attack. I attempted multiple times to log into WordPress and retrieve my blog, but it was nowhere to be found. I even tried using different search engines and pulling it up on my iPhone. As a last resort, I called my mom to see if she could see it on her end…but, NOTHING! Each time the page that came up stated, “Sorry, the page you are looking for could not be found.”
WordPress – I am not too sure what happened, but I was devastated. Maybe it has something to do with the cookies on my computer or the settings on my blog? I really do not know.
Either way, after about 30 minutes of searching I finally gave up and e-mailed my professor to see if he had any advice as to what to do. He quickly sent me an e-mail back with a screenshot of my blog saying that he was able to view it.
Quickly, I attempted to log in and find my blog. Low and behold, there it was….as if it never had disappeared. Needless to say, I was beyond happy that I could see it. Although, I had just made myself look dumb in front of my journalism professor.
So, after a heavy sigh, I proceeded to copy all my posts into a Word document just in case this happened again. I recommended that you all do the same.
If anyone has any idea what happened with my blog today, please feel free to comment….I honestly have no clue.
Moral of the story:
Maybe I am just not as tech savvy as I thought I was, but the world of mass media almost made me cry today. Although it has so many perks, it literally can send you on an emotional roller coaster.
Okay, my rant is over…hopefully I won’t have to ever experience that fiasco again. And in case you were wondering, this pretty much was my exact face when I couldn’t find my blog!
Happy blogging everyone!
